i am so stressed about the departure of the a-hole boss and the usurping of the duties of 2 people. i am going to be so busy here until they hire us more help. and even that's not going to "help" for a while, because the person will need to be trained. i am doing way more than my share of work right now and it's starting to affect me outside the office, i don't read as much in my leisure time anymore, and this fact bothers me because i love books and magazines with the burning hot passion of a thousand suns. i am often literally too tired to concentrate to read. this sucks the big one. what also sucks the big one? possibly having to go out for drinks tonight with the old boss and the Cell team. this sucks because i am not rich and really don't want to kick in money for this asshole. frankly, i don't want to go out for drinks at all tonight. i have loads to do at home, and would like to not pass go and head directly there after work. i doubt very much that said drinks will be put on someone's (read: scientific editor's) company card. honestly, i don't even know if they have them. this place is ubercheap. my thanksgiving was ok. just ok. it was stressful hosting. my older sister was sick and therefore not helpful and cranky. my mom was stressed out because she had a lot to do. my aunt and uncle are aholes who look for any opportunity to comment on our apartment or lifestyle. this time around she wanted to know why the shades in our apartment were down during the day? gee could it be that we don't want to get broken into (we are on the first floor) because we have nice stuff in our apartment. seriously, what a bitch. on saturday i was a "PA for a day" on a movie set. it was an interesting experience. i got to use one of those walkie talkie things. i learned what terms like "lock down" mean. i realized making a movie entails a lot of sitting around doing nothing. i found out that a lot of movie crew types have virtually no social skills (e.g., i heard two fart jokes in the span of 40 minutes and was told to "give it five minutes" before going into the bathroom to pee, gag.). i met some cool people though, including but not limited to, joe lotruglio of "the state" and "wet hot american summer" fame. he is the star of the movie and was an absolute doll and took a picture with us while in a woman's pink bathrobe. if my friend lindsay posts the picture on her site, i'll let you know. the movie is called "to life" and supposedly for working from 11am-4pm, i get to be in the credits - huzzah! sometimes you have to get drunk on a sunday, which is what i did yesterday. we went to brunch at east coast grill and i had quite a number of bloody marys and bloody mary "shooters" (yes, oysters are involved). when i left the restaurant, i was drunk. then i got baked when i arrived home, i swear i didn't feel "normal" until around 10pm last night, at which time it would've been appropriate to start all over again (but i restrained myself, which is so unlike me).
